I am sorry to here about your situation, and it just goes to show that dads can be as bad as mums when it comes to stopping family members having a relationship with children.

Sometimes the problem is that the relationship between one parent and either of the sets of grandparents wasn’t good to start with and this type of situation can be a way of getting even for what the parent perceives as past wrongs committed against them by the grandparents. I am not saying that is true in your case but it does happen.

Also the other grandparents can be the real obstacle and the parent is only the proxy. I remember a paternal grandmother being told by the maternal grandmother that the first grandmother needed an appointment to see ‘her’ grandchildren. At that point the children came running over to the first grandmother screaming ‘Granny, granny’ and hugging and kissing her. The first grandmother was so embarrassed that she had to walk away in shame.
